Road Junction Names

Audley Junction sign with name, Blackburn - picture courtesy of LMARSThis page has been created to list every named junction in Britain, the roads that pass through, start or end there, and the location of the junction. An addition underway, a link will be added to each listing to Google Maps, allowing you to see a map of the junction, and also a satellite image.

The list isn't complete, however if you know of a named junction that isn't listed here (and where it is), or why any junction listed was so called, please let me know, and I'll make sure its added to the list next time its updated!

Please be aware that not all junction names are shown on signposts - many councils are adding the names onto approach signage as they are replaced after routing maintenance or renewal programmes. Some junction names appear on signposts within the junction. Some, especially motorway interchanges, appear on no signs at all - names in these cases generally come from official documentation, such as Highways Agency publicity.

Some pages have been formatted into the new headed list style, which looks like this:

Name of Junction
     Location
     Roads meeting at junction
     Additional information on the junction

A small note regarding these listings
Only classified roads (A/B roads and motorways) are shown in the list, except where only one classified road passes through the junction, or none at all. For example, if the A123 met with an unclassified road, but no other road, then "A123/unclass." would be shown; however if the same roads were to meet with, say, the B1234, then only the A123 and B1234 would be shown, but not the unclassified road. If two unclassified roads met at a crossroads, but no numbered roads, the entry would read "unclass. / unclass."
