A1073: Spalding to Eye Improvement

The A1073 is a twisty, narrow country route that dissects the Lincolnshire countryside between Peterborough and Spalding. Although not the official route between these two towns, it is the preferred route by many, as it is much more direct than via the A15 and A16. This has led to the road becoming very congested and has a poor accident record as a result.

The new road has been planned to make the route even more direct, and much safer to use. It should be made a primary route too. The road is currently under construction, and is expected to open in 2010.

More details can be found at the Lincolnshire County Council website.
