A80: Upgrade to M80 Motorway

This road will be the upgraded version of the A80, with a new off-line section being built between Junction 3 and the M73 interchange. The existing Junction 5 (the M871 interchange) will probably become Junction 10 to bring numbering in line with the rest of the motorway.

The road will mostly be D2 as at present, just with the addition of hard shoulders. However there will be D3 sections between J4 and J5, and also between J8 and J9 (apart from a short section of D2+3).

Construction should start in 2008, with completion expected in 2011.

More details can be found at the scheme website.
