About the Road

The main route from London down to the coast at Brighton, and originally opened as a Turnpike. However, most of its importance has been superseded by the M23, although south of Crawley, the A23 is a high-quality dualled trunk route.

The A23 forms most of the route used by the London to Brighton historical vehicle rally.
