About the Road

This is a major north-south route between North and South Wales, as well as between England and Wales, and is often used as an alternative to the M6/M5 route when there are problems along that corridor. Unlike the A470, this road "flirts" with the border, crossing into Shropshire before heading back into Wales to pass Wrexham, then hopping back over again into Cheshire.
