About the Road

This road was built as the first stage of a bigger scheme, to eventually link the M56 at Manchester Airport to the M60 at Bredbury, bypassing Stockport to the east and south of the town. So far, it appears to be a bit of an anomaly, a two-mile long road that straddles the A34. However, recent government funding means that the road should be built between the Airport and the A6 at Hazel Grove, albeit possibly not to the high standard that this short stretch of tarmac was built to.
