About the Road

Originally the main Manchester to Chester road, this is a wide, fast road with four lanes - two in either direction, but surprisingly only dual to the west of the M6. However, most of the road's purpose has now been superseded by the M56, although the road does provide an important link between the M6 and M56 for traffic heading between Manchester and the Midlands/South. Due to it's congested and high-speed nature, many junctions have prohibited right turns, meaning some lengthy detours!
