About the Road

This is the main route from Glasgow down to the docks at Stranraer, as well as Prestwick Airport. The road has been bypassed by the M77 for much of its length, with section between the M77 terminus and the southern end of the Ayr bypass being a high-quality dualled route. The remainder of the road is of lower quality, and is a twisty coastal single-carriageway road.
